The Gail Valentine Memorial Scholarship Association was established in 2009 by the family of Gail Valentine in memory of her contribution to higher education in developing countries.

Gail Valentine, a 1969 alumnus of Avondale College, was a Lecturer in Business Studies whose commitment to service to society took her, with her husband Gil, to extended cross-cultural teaching assignments in rural Punjab in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Australia and in Central Thailand.  Her academic qualifications were earned at Avondale College (Aus), the University of Reading (UK), Brunel University (UK), and Charles Sturt University (Aus).  Gail had a deep commitment to enabling her students to achieve their full potential.  She was appreciated as a role model and as a mentor particularly for women students in business.  She was also passionate about improving Human Resource management wherever she served and it was a featured emphasis in her teaching.

Her work was cut tragically short by terminal cancer which took her life in March 2009.  The memorial scholarship program established by her family seeks to honour her work, facilitate the development particularly of young women students in business and encourage a continuing commitment to best practice in Human Resource Management.
